Breakfast in Malaysia!

Today, we went to have breakfast in a restaurant in Penang. The traditional way to have breakfast is nasi lemak which is coconut rice, dried anchovies, cucumbers, boiled eggs and sambal. Sambal is a spicy fish gravy. We also had roti canai, which is a dough smothered with butter or oil then fried fresh. It comes in many flavours, such as with onion, banana, eggs and whatever more you request! Normally it is served with a curry called dhal, onions and another type of curry made of coconut. It is best enjoyed eaten with your bare hands, no spoon or fork! Eaten 24 hours a day, with any drink espically teh tarik. Price is RM 0.80, but one is never enough!

Another yummy treat is the tosai. Tosai is also made of a dough, only tosai's dough is very thin and made of rice! It is lighter than rice, and still served with dhal and other curries. Best served with iced drinks, can be found from morning to evening and can only be eaten with bare hands! Price range is RM 1.20, depending on the restaurant.

Susu rose

This rare drink is really divine! It is made of red roses and fresh milk. The two ingredients will infuse a sweet taste that will dance in your mouth. It is served best iced. Really refreshing after shopping, tea breaks and even at lunch. This drink may not be found in many restaurants, but is really famous in indian restaurants in Penang Island. The colour is a dazzling pink which will be appetizing to the eyes. Enjoyed best when chit chatting with friends. Price is about RM 1.50 to RM 2.50, but really worth it!

Air Limau (Lemonade)

Air limau is lemonade or lime juice made fresh. It is a very thirst quenching drink and really refreshing after a hectic day of shopping or working. This drink is found in many cafes and restaurants. Of course, you may find it in supermarkets. This drink can be served with or without sugar also hot or iced. When served, you can find normally 2 pieces of lime which gives a more satisfying taste and view. But, beware of the seeds you'll find as they might get stuck in your straws! The price is about RM 1.00 to RM 2.00.
